The new occupation of Indians in India is since about 4 decades is Cricket, be it whoever they can be there is some interest in this sport whatsoever. Cricket is the most popular sport in India; it is played by numerous people in open spaces, streets, parks, fields, terraces or wherever there is some space throughout the country. Cricket is not a National Sports, it is field Hockey, otherwise it competing very strongly to be the National sport.

 

Cricket is played between two teams of eleven players in a oval or a round field over a place in the middle is called pitch.It is 22 yards long and 5 yards wide. On both ends there are three stumps called wickets.

 

There are three formats of the game:

 

  • Test match comprising of 5 days
  • One Day Series
  • T20 Match

 

The India national cricket team won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, and the 2011 Cricket World Cup, and shared the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka. Domestic competitions include the Ranji Trophy, the Duleep Trophy, the Deodhar Trophy, the Irani Trophy and the Challenger Series. In addition, BCCI conducts the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 competition.
